The Cycle Derby Sportive team are delighted to work with Ashgate Hospicecare as one of the charity partners for both sportives in 2017. Ashgate Hospicecare is a local charity, providing services to people right across North Derbyshire from Shirebrook to New Mills, and from Dronfield down to Alfreton. They are an independent charity but do work closely with NHS organisations to offer support, care and specialist therapy services to patients and their families in the comfort of their own homes as well as in the hospice itself; the care is completely free. The staff help patients add life to their days, even when days can’t be added to life.
Ashgate Hospicecare relies heavily on fundraising in order to carry on their work each year. Our Sportive cyclists can raise money for the hospice by requesting a fundraising pack via our online entry system or by making a direct donation on entry of the sportives. If you request a fundraising pack, Ashgate Hospicecare will then contact you with more details and their fundraising team can provide further help with your fundraising.
Christine Selden, Fundraising Manager for Ashgate Hospicecare informed us:
“We need to raise £7 million every year to run the hospice and to provide our services free of charge to the people of North Derbyshire who are living with a life-limiting illness. We care for about 2,200 people a year but we know that the figure is nearer 3,000 people who need our care. With your support we can continue to care for patients and get closer to our goal of reaching everyone who needs us.’
